Woman indicted after crash into Knoxville assisted living facility that killed man

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A woman was indicted after a minivan crashed into Shannondale Assisted Living Facility, killing a man. On April 8, a grand jury indicted Eleasah Elaine Williams, 25 on one count of vehicular homicide in connection to a crash that left 96-year-old Walter D. Humphrey dead. According to court records, in June 2025, police learned of a disturbance on Woodview Lane and were told Williams was "suicidal and homicidal." Moments later, police learned that a KIA minivan had crashed into the side of Shannondale Assisted Living Facility, records said. In June, 6 News spoke to legal analyst Greg Isaacs about the case. He explained that the version of vehicular homicide that she had been charged with before the indictment would likely be classified as a C felony and carry a potential punishment of three to six years. Williams appeared in court for a preliminary hearing in October.
