Woman identified after being hit, killed by 2 cars on Raeford Road in Fayetteville: Police
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The woman struck by two vehicles in Fayetteville over the weekend has died, police said Wednesday. According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the crash happened on Saturday just before 3 a.m. in the area of Raeford Road near Greenleaf Drive. A preliminary investigation determined 40-year-old Rheannon Denise Maurer of Fayetteville ran into the road, putting her in the path of a 2013 Hyundai. Officers said the driver of the Hyundai attempted to avoid Maurer, but was hit by a 2002 Infinity, causing both vehicles to strike her. Police said both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators. Maurer was taken to the hospital, where she died on Tuesday, according to Fayetteville police. As of Wednesday, according to Fayetteville police, no charges have been filed against the drivers. The investigation remains ongoing.
