The crash killed 23-year-old Derriana Hall. "Just peeked my head out and the whole street was lined with emergency vehicles, cop cars, and I hopped outside to see what was going on. I couldn’t see what was going on though," said Joe Kitchens, who lives in the neighborhood. Heritage Oaks Drive was lined with emergency crews as they worked to retrieve the car submerged in the pond. "Apparently, this vehicle was driving a high rate of speed. (There were) four occupants, including the driver," MSgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department said. >> Video Below: 1 dead, 3 rescued from car pulled from OKC pondThe cul-de-sac in the neighborhood ends with the pond, and police said the driver drove straight into it. Three of the four people inside the car made it out. "The fire department had to extricate a female, who was still in the car. She was transported to an area hospital, where sadly she died as a result of her injuries. She was just simply unable to get out," Knight said. But this isn't KOCO's first time reporting on a fatality at the pond. "I would like to see our HOA maybe put up some reflectors or something if this keeps on happening," Kitchens said. "You would think they would do something to fix it or at least make things safer." Police said the driver of the incident was under the influence, and she was arrested. "Very sad situation. Sadly, we see it too often with people drinking and getting behind the car," Knight said. The driver has not been formally charged. KOCO will not name her until charges are filed. She was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center for second-degree murder.
