Woman charged with manslaughter, OUI in fatal Arrigoni Bridge crash

PORTLAND, Conn. (WTNH) — A woman is facing manslaughter and driving under the influence charges in connection to a fatal crash on the Arrigoni Bridge last fall, according to Portland police. Angela Jaclyn Grammatico, 32, of Portland, turned herself in on an active arrest warrant on Tuesday. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, reckless driving, second-degree manslaughter, first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of controlled substance first offense, and second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle. The charges stem from a crash around 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 11, 2025. Police said a red Subaru traveling westbound over the bridge and a black Ford Escape traveling eastbound collided head-on. The driver of the Subaru- a 70-year-old Middletown man named Jozef Baran- was pronounced deceased on scene, according to police at the time. Grammatico is accused of being behind the wheel of the Ford Escape. She sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. The crash caused the bridge to be closed for roughly five hours while police investigated. Grammatico was held on a $75,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Middletown court on June 16.
