Wind blamed for deadly semi crash in western Iowa
A fatal semi accident occurred on Interstate 80 in western Iowa due to strong winds, according to authorities. The incident took place near mile marker 12, north of Council Bluffs on Friday. Witnesses reported that a 2004 Peterbilt semi in the right lane lost control on the roadway due to the windy conditions. Despite the driver's efforts to regain control, the semi tipped onto its side in the median and hit the cable barrier. Sadly, the driver, identified as 56-year-old Mark Douglas Hayden from Council Bluffs, was fatally injured in the accident.
