Washington teen fell asleep at wheel before deadly crash into motorhome on Oregon highway, officials said

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An 18-year-old from Washington died in a car crash after falling asleep at the wheel in Curry County, Oregon State Police said. The crash happened on Friday, June 26. The Oregon State Police said they responded at 8:20 a.m. to a reported two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near milepost 312, near Port Orford. Luke Anree May Dizone, of Covington, Washington, died at the scene after falling asleep while driving a black Chrysler Pacifica when he crashed into a school bus converted into a motorhome, OSP said. Dizon had drifted into the opposite lane, crashing head-on with the bus driven by 73-year-old David Eugene Johansen, of Fort Bragg, California.  One of the passengers of the Chrysler, 18-year-old Maryanne Drake, of Auburn, Washington, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Two other adult passengers in the same car were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while another adult passenger was not injured. Johansen, the bus driver, was not injured, officials said.
