VSP investigating fatal crash in Prince Edward County

Virginia State Police (VSP) said a 20-year-old died after a crash in Prince Edward County. VSP said they are investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Thursday at 7:10 p.m. at the intersection of Route 15, Abilene Road, and Worsham Road in Prince Edward County. According to VSP, a 2014 Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on Abilene Road when it ran a stop sign and hit a 2013 Ford F150. The collision caused the Explorer to spin out and strike a parked 2016 Jeep Compass, as well as a gas pump and a building. Lewis, 20, of Cumberland, was taken to an area hospital, where Lewis later died from his injuries. Lewis was not wearing a seatbelt, VSP said. A juvenile passenger in the Explorer also suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital, VSP said. The driver of the F150 suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital, VSP said. The crash remains under investigation, according to VSP.
