Hudson Falls woman named in Greenfield fire crash in reported stolen car
"All you saw was a car burst into flame and a human voice saying, 'Somebody help me"-- witnesses recalled a horrific scene after a fiery crash in Greenfield left a woman dead early Friday morning. According to the sheriff’s office, the woman left Saratoga Hospital on foot and then stole a vehicle from Seward Street in Saratoga Springs. She then drove west on Denton Road before the vehicle struck a tree at the intersection of Locust Grove Road and caught fire. Deputies responded to the scene around 4:15 a.m. Neighbors tell CBS6’s Briana Supardi they jumped out of bed when they heard the impact and went outside. One neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified, became emotional as he recalled what he saw and heard. “To hear a human voice– it is something you don’t want to even experience,” he said. “All I heard, and all I can still hear in my mind, is somebody, ‘Somebody please help me, somebody help’” the neighbor said. “So to speak, she was fighting for dear life. She was giving it all she could to hold on. Just a matter of seconds, the car was pretty much completely inflamed. She gave up. Apparently, she was gone.” The woman, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. On June 22, the Sheriff's office released the name, 39-year-old Jobeth Williams of Hudson Falls. The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit and Accident Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate the crash. CBS6 reached out to Saratoga Hospital seeking information about the circumstances surrounding the woman’s departure from the hospital, including whether she had been discharged or left against medical advice. The hospital has not yet responded.
