SPRINGVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — The president and founder of the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork has died following a crash on Main Street in Springville, police say. The Springville City Police Department confirmed that 79-year-old Christopher Caru Warden, the President of the Utah Krishnas, was the victim of the deadly crash on Monday. The Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple shared a post on Facebook mourning Caru, who also founded the Salt Lake City temple. In addition to founding the temples, Caru also founded Krishna Radio (KHQN) and Utah Holi. He headed the Holi Festival of Colors celebrations in Spanish Fork, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Ogden. Previously, the police department stated that the crash occurred around 2:20 p.m. on Monday. A vehicle travelling southbound on Main Street collided with northbound traffic, and four vehicles were involved in the crash. The southbound driver received fatal injuries and could not be revived at the scene, police say. That driver has now been identified as Caru. The city says the investigation into what occurred is active, and more information will be shared when it is available. The police department said that their “hearts go out to the family of the deceased.”
