Vehicle overturns, another damaged in early morning Syracuse crash

Update -- 9:00 p.m. Friday: The Syracuse Police Department is revealing more details about the crash and those involved. Police said a white Honda Accord travelling northbound on Mather Street drove through the stop sign at the Hawley Ave intersection and hit a Town and Country minivan causing the minivan to flip on its side. Police said of the four people in the minivan only two remained on-scene. Two men fled the scene and remain unaccounted for at this time, according to police. The drive of the Accord also fled the scene, according to officers. That driver did eventually return to the scene and told officers that he was worried someone was hurt. The driver also reportedly admitted to drinking and was arrested for DWI. The two women who were in the minivan told officers at the scene that they did not know the actual names of the two men who fled from the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Original: One vehicle overturned and another sustained heavy damage in a serious crash early Friday morning on Hawley Avenue. The crash happened around 1:59 a.m. near the intersection of Hawley Avenue, Elm Street and Mather Street. Emergency crews responded to the scene, where two vehicles were involved. One vehicle overturned in the crash, and both sustained significant damage. An ambulance responded to the scene.
