Vehicle crashes into building Thursday morning
A vehicle crashed into a building off 34th & Cuming Street Thursday morning. It happened around 7:45 a.m. KETV's photographer on scene spoke with residents of the apartment building who said they were home when the vehicle crashed into the side of the building's porch."I was holding the baby. He just fell asleep, so I ran upstairs, laid him down, and I just heard.. BOOM," building resident James Smith said."It's like the whole room was shaking. It was crazy. Then when I came down here, I just seen a big car right in front of the porch. I was like what is going on," James's son, Trevon Smith, said.[image id='beda2033-dc2e-4fba-9e9e-71f4802eaf05' mediaId='2da8ca5b-0d9f-46f3-9a74-cc56ac191b03' align='center' size='medium' share='true' caption='' expand='' crop='original'][/image]Lindsey Bowman, another building resident, said she hopes this can create change for the better."I think if anything it should draw attention to the fact that this street is very dangerous. The lady said someone kind of ran her off the road. I think the city should pay attention, get speed bumps, get some lights or something," Bowman said.Douglas County officials said one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
