Vehicle collides with Hoosick restaurant, 1 person airlifted to hospital

A car crashed into a popular restaurant and candy store in Hoosick on Monday evening, sending one person to the hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation by New York State Police. The incident occurred at Tammy's Candy Kettle on State Route 7 just before 5:15 p.m. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle before being airlifted to Albany Medical Center. The owner of Tammy's Candy Kettle, Tammy Morgan, described the damage to the building as extensive, including a ripped hole, tipped over candy cases, smashed windows, and a damaged carport. Fortunately, no one inside the building, which included Morgan, her husband, and one customer at the time, was injured. The owners, who have operated the business for over 30 years, are waiting for an insurance adjuster to assess the damage. Meanwhile, they are trying to navigate the situation one step at a time.
