Vehicle and bicycle crash in Chico causing traffic delays
A portion of Cohasset Road was closed in Chico on Thursday while police investigated the scene of a fatal crash. The Chico Police Department (CPD) said officers responded to a report of a bicyclist down on Cohasset Road near Ryan Avenue just before 11:30 a.m. Officers arrived minutes later and found the bicyclist, identified as an adult male, lying injured in the roadway. Despite life-saving measures, police said the bicyclist was declared dead at the scene. Police said the driver involved in the crash remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators. A preliminary investigation did not indicate alcohol, drugs or speed as factors, the CPD said.
