UPDATE: Victim identified after fatal crash on I-25 near City Center on-ramp
(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The victim of a fatal crash on I-25 near the City Center on-ramp in Pueblo has been identified by the Pueblo County Coroner as 21-year-old Javien Aaron Miller. The crash happened on Thursday, June 18, just after 9:40 a.m. A driver was killed on Thursday morning, June 18, after drifting out of the southbound lanes of I-25 in Pueblo and hitting a stationary flatbed trailer that was parked on the shoulder. According to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD), around 9:41 a.m. on Thursday, a semi-truck hauling an empty flatbed trailer pulled over onto the shoulder of I-25 from the southbound on-ramp at City Center when the driver felt there might be a mechanical issue. PPD said the semi and trailer were parked out of the lanes of travel and were fully on the shoulder of I-25. Shortly after the semi pulled over, a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix got on the interstate from the southbound City Center on-ramp. The Pontiac then drove off the interstate and onto the shoulder, hitting the back of the flatbed trailer. PPD said the driver of the Pontiac was declared dead on the scene. Southbound I-25 was closed for several hours for the crash investigation and cleanup. This marks the 10th fatal crash in Pueblo in 2026, PPD said.
