UPDATE: Prosecutors seek bond revocation in fatal crash that killed 5-year-old
Mobile County prosecutors are asking a judge to revoke the bond of a Citronelle woman charged in a crash that killed a 5-year-old child last year. Court records filed Tuesday show the State of Alabama filed a motion to revoke bond for Cheryl Lynn, who is on bond in a case involving charges of reckless manslaughter, first-degree assault, DUI, and third-degree assault. According to the motion, Lynn was cited by an Alabama State Trooper on July 14 for driving 74 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone near Gulf Crest Road in Mobile County. Prosecutors say that violated a condition of her bond. The motion says Lynn was ordered on May 9, 2025, not to drive a vehicle and to surrender her driver’s license. Prosecutors also cite an April 20, 2026 order from Judge Ben Brooks allowing Lynn to work at Citronelle Market Place, but only if she did not drive to and from work. The state argues the speeding citation is a material breach of Lynn’s release conditions and is asking the court to revoke her bond. The case stems from a May 6, 2025 crash on U.S. 45 near the 22-mile marker, about three miles south of Chunchula. ALEA said a 2011 Honda Accord left the roadway and struck a tree. A 5-year-old passenger was killed and was not using a child restraint at the time of the crash. Two other children, ages 7 and 1, were injured and taken to a hospital. Lynn, who was driving the Honda, was also injured and taken to USA Hospital for treatment. She was arrested the next day and booked into Mobile Metro Jail on a reckless manslaughter charge. Lynn was arrested Wednesday and will be held in custody until a bond revocation hearing can be held.
