Two people killed in Mercedes crash
MERCEDES, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Mercedes Police Department is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash. According to the Mercedes police Chief Frank Sanchez, the crash happened north of 491 by Mile 9. Sanchez said at the scene that the driver at fault and the passenger from the other vehicle are dead. The Texas Department of Public Safety is at the scene assisting with the reconstruction of the crash. The intersection of FM 491 and Mile 9 is closed to traffic as authorities investigate. The Texas Department of Transportation advises drivers to avoid the area.
