Two patrol cars collide on I-95 during investigation, according to troopers

A collision involving a civilian car and two law enforcement patrol cars took place on northbound I-95 near mile marker 185 in Brevard County. The incident occurred while an officer was investigating a hit-and-run. The left lane of I-95 was blocked for the initial inquiry. A blue Kia collided with a Brevard County Sheriff's Office patrol car that was stopped behind a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle in the left lane. The sheriff's patrol car was empty, while an FHP trooper was inside the vehicle in front. The impact caused the Sheriff's car to hit the FHP vehicle. The driver of the Kia sustained serious injuries and was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center, while the FHP trooper had minor injuries and was also taken to the same medical center. The road has been cleared, and traffic has returned to normal. The crash is currently being investigated by authorities.
