Two killed, one seriously injured in head-on crash on U.S. 258
Two people were killed and another was seriously injured in a head-on crash in eastern North Carolina, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Troopers said the crash occurred at approximately 3:48 p.m. Thursday, June 18, on U.S. Highway 258 near N.C. Highway 41 in Jones County. According to investigators, a northbound vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound vehicle. The impact caused one of the vehicles to leave the roadway and overturn. Troopers said the driver of the southbound vehicle and one passenger were killed in the crash. One of the victims was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. A third occupant of the southbound vehicle was flown to ECU Health Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the northbound vehicle was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, according to the Highway Patrol. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved. The crash remains under investigation.
