Two hospitalized after multi-vehicle crash on Highway 299 near Bella Vista
Two people were taken to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 299 near Livona Lane in the Bella Vista area, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP Lt. Brandon Lale said six people were involved in the collision, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Officials said three vehicles sustained major damage in the crash. A Mini Cooper rolled over during the crash, and its driver, described as a female occupant, was among those transported to the hospital. The other vehicles involved included a Jeep Compass and a Toyota RAV4, according to CHP. Officials said two of the three vehicles were occupied only by their drivers. The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. One lane of Highway 299 had reopened by late Thursday afternoon, while crews continued traffic control and worked to clear the scene. CHP estimated traffic impacts could continue for about 30 minutes as emergency personnel and tow crews remained on scene. The extent of the victims' injuries has not been released.
