Two fatalities in Grass Valley collision; SR-20 reopens following lengthy clearing effort
A severe accident involving two large trucks in Grass Valley led to two fatalities on Wednesday morning. The California Highway Patrol in Grass Valley arrived at the scene following the incident along SR-20 around 11 a.m. One of the semi-trucks traveling eastbound on SR-20 crossed into oncoming traffic, resulting in a head-on collision with a westbound semi. A Toyota Tacoma following the second truck then rear-ended it. The driver of the Toyota was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Unfortunately, both semi-truck drivers lost their lives in the crash. Cleanup efforts have been underway due to oil and diesel spillage. SR-20 was eventually reopened at 7:30 p.m., according to the CHP Grass Valley.
