Two fatal crashes in Nevada mark 6th and 7th fatalities of the year

NEVADA (ABC4) — There have been two fatal crashes in Nevada last week, marking the 6th and 7th fatal crashes in the state since the beginning of the year. According to Nevada Highway Patrol, on April 21, a Ford F-350 pickup and a green John Deere 7700 tractor were traveling northbound on SR 290. The driver of the Ford F-350 struck the left rear of the tractor. After striking the tractor, the truck traveled off the right side of the roadway where it came to a rest against a right-of-way fence. The driver, identified as Joe Frank Sicking, 79, of Winnemucca, was pronounced deceased on scene. The crash, which is still under investigation, was the 6th fatal crash in Nevada in 2026. On April 24, a Ford Expedition that was traveling northbound on SR 487 failed to stay in its travel lane and ran off the right side of the road. Nevada Highway Patrol said that the driver then oversteered to the right and the vehicle traveled off of the roadway and rolled. The driver, identified as Katherine Truong, 18, of San Jose, California, was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced deceased on scene. The crash is currently under investigation. It marks the 7th fatal crash in Nevada in 2026.
