Two drivers killed after fiery three-vehicle crash in Ward County

WARD COUNTY — Two drivers died Monday morning after a fiery three-vehicle crash, authorities said. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred about 6:50 a.m. Monday, May 18, on Farm-to-Market Road 1233 at mile marker 234. Sergio Lujan Olivas, 22, of Monahans, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver, Enrique Flores III, 40, of Crane, also was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS said both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Preliminary information from DPS indicated a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution with a towed trailer was traveling west on FM 1233. A 2026 Toyota Tundra was traveling east on FM 1233. A third vehicle, a 2025 Ford F-250, was traveling west on FM 1233 behind the Freightliner, DPS said. According to DPS, the Toyota failed to stay in a single lane and struck the left rear axle of the Freightliner. The Toyota continued and struck the Ford F-250, and both vehicles caught fire. The crash remains under investigation.
