Troopers: 2 dead, 2 seriously injured in crash involving a semi in Dearborn County

Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a head-on crash with a semi-truck in Dearborn County, Indiana State Police said. Troopers said they responded to a head-on crash between a semi-truck and a car in the 2700 block of Harrison-Brookville Road around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Sgt. Stephen Wheeles told WCPO 9 that two people in the car were killed in the crash. Two others, who were also occupants in the car, were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi-truck had minor injuries after the crash, Wheeles said. The two people killed in the crash have not yet been identified by troopers or the Dearborn County Coroner's Office. We spoke with a Dearborn County resident who lives near the crash site. He told us there have been several fatal crashes along the stretch of road over the last 10 or so years, and that residents have been trying to get the speed limit lowered for years. Troopers did not say what caused the head-on crash, but that it is still under investigation. Harrison-Brookville Road was also shut down for several hours while crews investigated.
