Tragic crash in Howard County claims two lives, sends two to Shock Trauma
A tragic incident occurred in Howard County resulting in the death of two individuals and injuring two others who were taken to Shock Trauma. Maryland State Police reported that Michael Coupet, a 34-year-old driver from Baltimore City, caused a collision on I-95 while driving a Toyota Sequoia in the wrong direction under the influence on Sunday morning. The crash led to the death of Venkata Asha Khanna Appana, the driver of the Chrysler Pacifica, and a passenger, Krishna Kishore Koti Kalapudi, with two other passengers, aged 21 and 16, airlifted to a trauma center. Coupet, responsible for the crash, faces several serious charges and is currently in custody at Howard County Detention Center without bond. The investigation into the incident is ongoing under the supervision of the Maryland State Police Crash Team, with assistance from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.
