Tragic Christmas Eve car crash in Milam County leaves 2 teens dead and 3 others critically injured

A tragic three-vehicle collision in Milam County on December 24th resulted in the loss of an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old, as per a recent press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety. Cooper Andrew Elsik, 18, from Georgetown, was driving on U.S. 79 with a 17-year-old passenger when a Dodge truck with a "homemade utility trailer" veered into their lane, causing a collision with Elsik's Ford Escape. This impact then led to a secondary crash with another vehicle carrying three individuals, who were all transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital with serious injuries. Unfortunately, Elsik and the 17-year-old were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge truck, mentioned as a 60-year-old from Lufkin, Texas, was not reported as injured. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, as stated in the Monday morning press release from DPS.
