Traffic on I-20 near Kilgore stopped due to multiple semi-truck collision
An update from Texas DPS Sergeant Adam Albritton confirms that following a serious multi-18-wheeler crash, one individual was severely injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. Debris and sheetrock are currently being cleared from the roads, which may cause traffic delays for an additional one to two hours. The Texas Department of Transportation is working to divert traffic, and drivers are advised to avoid the area until the situation is resolved. The crash occurred on Interstate 20 north of Kilgore near mile marker 587, resulting in the closure of the roadway between State Highway 42 and State Highway 31. Traffic is being redirected to the SH 42 exit, and significant congestion is reported on the interstate. Authorities are coordinating efforts to address the situation, with one of the 18-wheelers involved losing its load of sheetrock on the road. Multiple agencies including the Gregg County Sheriff's Office, Sabine County Fire Department, and CHRISTUS EMS are aiding the Texas DPS in managing the incident.
