Traffic jam on I-80 in West Sacramento following weekend construction.
An incident involving a Caltrans contractor occurred during the early hours of Monday along the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 in West Sacramento. The crash, which took place shortly before 5 a.m. near the Reed Avenue offramp, involved multiple vehicles, including a water truck contracted by Caltrans. While the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, the California Highway Patrol reported only minor injuries. The section of I-80 had reopened just over an hour before the incident following a weekend-long closure for construction. As a result, traffic is now congested, extending back through the Bryte Bend bridge into the Natomas area, leading to anticipated delays throughout the morning.
