Austin ISD police chief hospitalized after crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police were investigating after a crash injured Austin ISD Police Chief Wayne Sneed. A spokesperson with the district provided the following statement. According to APD, the crash occurred Wednesday around 8:20 p.m. at W. U.S. 290 westbound and the MoPac service road ramp near Southwest Parkway. APD said preliminary information indicated the collision occurred while members of the AISD Police Department’s motorcycle unit were involved in a motorcade operation. “Two police motorcycles, including one being driven by AISD Police Chief Wayne Sneed, were involved in the incident,” APD said. Chief Sneed was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
