Distracted semi driver triggers six-vehicle pileup on I-10 near Texas-New Mexico line

A chain-reaction crash involving a semi tractor-trailer and five other vehicles temporarily shut down westbound Interstate 10 near the Texas-New Mexico state line on Tuesday morning. Emergency responders were dispatched at about 7 a.m. to a major motor vehicle accident on I-10 westbound at Mile Marker 1 near the state line. A preliminary investigation found that westbound traffic was slowing because of a stalled vehicle near the state line when a distracted semi tractor-trailer driver failed to stop in time, triggering a crash involving six vehicles total, including the commercial motor vehicle, Anthony police officials said. No injuries were reported. Westbound lanes of I-10 were temporarily closed while emergency personnel investigated and coordinated the removal of the vehicles. All lanes have since reopened.
