Traffic delays caused by fatal accident on 60 Freeway in Pomona
A fatal rollover collision on the 60 Freeway in Pomona resulted in the death of one individual early Monday morning. The incident, which occurred when a vehicle struck a guardrail, led to a significant SigAlert that impacted the morning commute for many drivers. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) arrived at the eastbound side of the freeway near Garey Avenue around 4 a.m., where they discovered an overturned car that had crashed into a guardrail, resulting in at least one fatality. Subsequently, a SigAlert was issued around 8 a.m., closing all eastbound lanes except for the carpool lane. Details such as the person's identity and the vehicle's make and model, as well as any other potential injuries, have not been disclosed by officials. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The SigAlert is expected to remain in effect until the initial investigation is finished and the vehicle is cleared from the road. For those commuting in the area, it is recommended to consider using alternative routes like the 10 or 210 freeways to avoid congestion at Garey Avenue. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office will release further information on the victim's identity once the family has been notified.
