Tractor-trailer driver dies after fiery crash in Randolph County, troopers say

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) -- A tractor-trailer driver hauling lumber died on Tuesday after a fiery crash, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. At 12:34 p.m., a tractor-trailer hauling lumber was going north on NC Highway 134 near Bethel Lucas Road in Randolph County.  The tractor-trailer crossed the centerline, went off the road to the left into a heavily wooded area and hit several trees before stopping. During the crash, the lumber shifted, splitting the cab into sections and causing a fire.   The driver died at the scene, troopers say. The road is closed at this time, but a detour is in place.
