TikTok maker accused in fatal Zion pedestrian crash: authorities

A TikTok content creator was taken into custody and accused following a fatal accident in November, as per the Zion Police Department. Tynesha McCarty-Wroten, 43, of Zion, was detained this past week in connection to a crash that tragically took the life of Darren Lucas, 59, on November 3. Allegations suggest that McCarty-Wroten was broadcasting live on TikTok at the time of the collision. She is facing charges of reckless homicide and aggravated use of an electronic communication device. The incident took place at the intersection of Sheridan Road and 33rd Street where Lucas, a pedestrian who had just finished work at a nearby store, was struck by a car driven by McCarty-Wroten while trying to cross the road. Despite McCarty-Wroten cooperating with authorities at the scene and an 8-year-old passenger in her vehicle being unharmed, video evidence later revealed that the traffic light was red at the time of the accident. Public reports following the incident led to the discovery of the TikTok video, and subsequent forensic analysis confirmed its connection to the crash. Following the issuing of an arrest warrant, McCarty-Wroten was apprehended at her residence with luggage in hand, shortly after her attorney had stated she would voluntarily surrender at a later date. No court appearance date has been set for McCarty-Wroten at this time.
