2 dead after single-vehicle crash, North Las Vegas police say speed ‘a significant factor’
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A high-speed single-vehicle crash Sunday night in North Las Vegas left two people dead, according to police. The adult male driver of a 2016 Ford Taurus died at University Medical Center early Monday, and his adult female passenger died at the scene. The identities of the driver and the passenger were not immediately released, and investigators are still trying to positively identify the passenger. The crash was reported at about 7:10 p.m. on Grand Teton Drive, about a quarter mile east of Aliante Parkway. That section of the road is very long and straight, with the desert on the north side and a block wall with no entry point to housing on the south. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree, according to police. Speed is believed to have been a significant factor in the collision, police said in a Monday news release. Investigators have not yet determined whether impairment or any other contributing factors played a role.
