Teen seriously injured in electric scooter and car collision in Grimes

GRIMES, Iowa -- A teenager riding an electric scooter suffered serious injuries Monday night after a collision with a vehicle in Grimes. The Polk County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened around 7:20 p.m. at the intersection of Northeast Bridge Creek Crossing and Northeast Park Drive. A 14-year-old boy suffered serious injuries to one of his legs and was transported to a metro hospital for treatment by the Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire District. The driver of the car, a 66-year-old man, was not injured. He remained on the scene of the crash. The PCSO's Traffic Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
