Teen in custody after stolen car chase causes Aldine ISD bus collision
The Harris County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating an incident where a pursuit resulted in a collision with an Aldine ISD school bus in Humble. The situation began at around 4:22 p.m. when deputies received a notification from a FLOCK camera about a potentially stolen vehicle. Following this, the deputies located the vehicle in the vicinity of Hopper Road and US 59 and tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver chose to evade them. The pursuit lasted approximately five minutes and ended near Homestead Road and US 59, when the suspect ran a red light and collided with an Aldine ISD school bus. Fortunately, the bus was carrying 27 students, four of whom were taken to the hospital for assessment. The driver, believed to be around 17 years old, was apprehended and taken into custody. There is potential for the teen to face serious charges related to the stolen vehicle and firearm, which was found to be stolen as well. Moreover, the investigation reported that the vehicle involved was stolen, and a stolen firearm was retrieved. The teen, along with the charges against them, has not been disclosed by the HCSO at present. Additionally, details regarding the students' well-being post-evaluation have not been shared. Aldine ISD made a statement to FOX 26, affirming their cooperation with law enforcement and their commitment to ensuring student safety amid the incident. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
