Teen from Springfield charged in fatal accident suspected of driving under marijuana influence

A teenager from Springfield, Missouri is in trouble with the law after a crash in November 2024 led to one person's death and another person being injured. Law enforcement officials reported that the teenager ran a stop sign at a speed nearly three times the legal limit while high on marijuana. Skylar Frank Harris, who was born in 2007, faces serious charges including driving while intoxicated resulting in death, involuntary manslaughter, and driving while intoxicated causing injury. Court documents indicate that Harris was driving under the influence and distracted by a handheld device when the accident occurred at an intersection in Springfield. The crash resulted in the death of Jayde Campbell and injuries to another individual. Harris was found to be impaired by THC, with a blood test confirming the presence of the substance in his system. Law enforcement has issued a warrant for his arrest.
