Teen from Great Falls dies in crash in Chouteau County
A fatal single-vehicle accident occurred on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 in Chouteau County, just north of Fort Benton. The incident, which took place at mile marker 44 of US Highway 87 around 8 a.m., resulted in the death of one individual and injured another. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the accident involved a Chevrolet Camaro being driven by an 18-year-old female. The driver failed to navigate a left-hand curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and roll. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt, leading to both individuals being ejected from the car. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was transported to Missouri River Medical Center in Fort Benton with undisclosed injuries. The names of those involved have not been released. The MHP suspects alcohol and speed were contributing factors to the crash.
