Teen driver charged with OWI causing death in deadly Madison County accident

A tragic incident unfolded near Markleville, as an 18-year-old from Anderson is facing serious charges following a deadly collision early Thursday morning. The young driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when his northbound 2019 Chevrolet Silverado veered into the southbound lane on State Road 109, colliding head-on with a 2006 Jeep Wrangler driven by Nancy Staley, 56, from Markleville. Staley was fatally injured in the crash, while the teen driver emerged unscathed. The suspect has been taken into custody by the Madison County Sheriff's Department on charges including OWI Causing Death, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and OWI Impairment. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
