Man dies after being hit by vehicle near St. Michael's College
The Colchester Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on College Parkway. Police said the crash happened near the west entrance to St. Michael's College just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday.Police said the driver was traveling eastbound on College Parkway in a single-lane construction zone as the pedestrian, identified as Owen Rich, 62, of Burlington, was crossing the roadway, and the collision occurred. When officers arrived, they found bystanders attempting to resuscitate Rich. Rich was taken to the UVM Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver has not been charged. Police said there was no evidence of driver impairment. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can contact Colchester police at 802-264-5555.
