Pregnant woman, unborn child killed after crash involving train in Goshen

A woman and her unborn child were killed after their vehicle was hit by a train in Goshen Saturday evening. 44-year-old Yuliya Miroshnichenko died Monday afternoon from trauma related injuries at the hospital. The crash happened just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the train crossing on North Main Street. Officials say they tried to save the unborn child immediately after the crash, but were unsuccessful. Miroshnichenko was transported to the hospital by medical helicopter. A 39-year-old man along with two children, ages 5-years-old and 6-years-old, were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They have since been treated and released. There is no word on whether the crossing gates were activated and working correctly, although witnesses claimed they were. The investigation remains ongoing.
