Suspended Massachusetts State Police sergeant to face motor vehicle homicide charge

A suspended Massachusetts State Police sergeant is scheduled to face charges Wednesday for his alleged role in a deadly 2023 crash in Woburn.Scott Quigley, 41, of Woburn, was accused of driving negligently while drunk and crashing into an oncoming van on Dec. 12, 2023. The crash ultimately killed Angelo Schettino, 37, who had developmental challenges and used a wheelchair.Quigley was suspended by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission in March after he was indicted by a grand jury on a felony motor vehicle homicide charge. Quigley's attorney said the crash was an "unfortunate and tragic accident — not a criminal act."Quigley is set to be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court.
