Suspected drunk driver kills 2, injures others in Manhattan: NYPD

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Multiple people were seriously injured, at least two fatally, in a car accident involving a drunk driver on the Upper West Side Friday evening, police tell PIX11 News. First responders received a 911 call at around 6:00 p.m. regarding a motor vehicle accident and a report of a pedestrian being struck, police said. A car traveling at 108 miles per hour struck a Volkswagen. The car then continued another block before jumping the curb and striking several people, police said. Emergency Medical Services rushed the victims to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. Two were pronounced dead, and three are said to be in critical condition, according to authorities. The driver, who was driving the vehicle at a high speed, is allegedly intoxicated and is in police custody at a local hospital. He has not been charged yet. Other details were not made immediatley available.
