State Representative Snyder to discuss widening State Road 710 with FDOT.
A meeting is taking place today in Tallahassee to discuss the urgency of expanding State Road 710, also known as Warfield Boulevard. Recent safety concerns on this road, dubbed a "death trap" by Martin County's sheriff, have prompted efforts to accelerate the widening project, which is currently scheduled for 2029. After a fatal accident, Sheriff John Budnsiek contacted state Rep. John Snyder to expedite the process. Rep. Snyder subsequently wrote a letter to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Secretary Jared Perdue, highlighting the community's safety worries. Today, FDOT's Steven Braun and Rep. Snyder will meet in Tallahassee to address this issue. FDOT emphasizes safety as the main focus of their projects and outlined measures to be implemented during the widening process, including speed limits in work zones and collaboration with law enforcement to deter speeding and distracted driving.
