Springfield motorcyclist dies in two-vehicle crash, other driver arrested on suspicion of DWI
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A crash between a motorcycle and a car on Thursday night left the motorcycle driver dead, a passenger seriously injured and the other driver behind bars. According to a press release from the Springfield Police Department (SPD), they responded to reports of a vehicle crash at Cherry Street and Dysart Avenue at around 8:56 p.m. SPD says a 2008 Chrysler Sebring was eastbound on Cherry Street when the vehicle turned left onto Dysart and into the path of a westbound motorcycle. The motorcycle was driven by 30-year-old John Cram of Springfield, with 32-year-old Kelsey Huyck. In the crash, the motorcycle struck the Chrysler Sebring, and both riders were ejected. Both Crum and Huyck were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Crum later died at the hospital, while Huyck is still in serious condition at this time. The driver of the Chrysler Sebring is in Greene County Jail on suspicion of DWI causing the death of another, pending formal charges. SPD is continuing to investigate the crash and urges anyone with relevant information to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477) or online at p3tips.com. This is the 10th fatal crash in Springfield this year, according to SPD, resulting in 11 deaths.
