Spring Hill man falls asleep behind the wheel, causes 4-car crash on I-75: FHP
SAN ANTONIO, Fla. (WFLA) — A Spring Hill man fell asleep behind the wheel on Interstate 75 last week, causing a four-car crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Just before 6 p.m. on July 8, Jesse Palmer, 27, was driving a Pest Bear of Dade City Inc. truck in the inside lane of northbound I-75 near San Antonio. At the same time, three other vehicles were ahead of him in the outside lane, FHP said: a Tesla, Kia, and Ford pickup. Palmer told troopers he fell asleep, and his truck drifted across three lanes and struck the back-left of the Tesla, which was captured by the vehicle's back camera. The truck started rotating, hitting the Kia, which was then pushed into the Ford pickup. Palmer's Pest Bear truck rotated a few more times before overturning and coming to a stop on its passenger side, video shows. Fortunately, the crash report said no one involved was injured. Court records show that Palmer was cited for careless driving.
