Speeding a factor as car crashes into Raleigh creek on Ebenezer Church Road, troopers say
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Emergency crews worked to clear a single-vehicle crash that occurred late Sunday morning just outside northwest Raleigh. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a car was traveling at a high rate of speed around 10 a.m. on Ebenezer Church Road. The investigating trooper said the car went off the road after hitting a sharp curve on Ebenezer Church Road and went into Richland Creek. The trooper said the driver was taken to the hospital for a routine evaluation and was not seriously injured. A photo from Western Wake Fire and Rescue showed the smashed car several feet down a hill, resting partially in the creek. CBS 17 was at the scene as the car was being pulled out of the creek. Fire crews were on the scene to help keep the road closed. According to Western Wake Fire and Rescue, fluid from the vehicle was leaking, and Raleigh hazmat crews were also on scene to assist. According to officials, Ebenezer Church Road reopened around 2 p.m. Sunday.
