Somersworth family uninjured after person killed when pickup truck crashes into home
Police are investigating after a man died when his pickup truck slammed into a house in Somersworth.Officials said Michael J. Davis, 57, of Somersworth, was killed in the crash. The people in the home suffered minor injuries from flying debris.Homeowner B.J. Nadeau was home with his young son when the truck crashed into the house."We were getting ourselves ready to eat, and I just heard a big explosion and turned the corner and saw the back end of a truck sticking out of my living room floor," he said.>> Download the free WMUR app to get updates on the go <<The crash left behind a huge hole in the side of the house."The city of Somersworth, the emergency responders, and the EMTs and the hospital – there's just so much love and kindness, and it made it easier," homeowner Katie Nadeau said.Police said the driver hit several parked cars before hitting the house. "Nobody teaches you how to prepare for a car to go into your house," Katie Nadeau said. "I didn't really process much until we got here this morning to see everything that happened."Multiple levels of the home were severely damaged, and it's unclear how long it will take the family to rebuild. They said they're not focusing on what they lost."The fact that Olive and I pretty much walked out of there mostly unscathed, because it could have been a lot worse," B.J. Nadeau said. "We are thankful for what we walked away with."The Nadeaus said their family and friends have also rallied around them.The crash is still under investigation, but police said it appears that speed and alcohol were contributing factors.
