Several seriously injured in seven-vehicle crash that shut down Interstate 80

Pennsylvania State Police have released new details about a seven-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 that seriously injured five members of the same family after a tractor-trailer slammed into stopped traffic in a construction zone. According to state police, the crash happened at about 4:34 p.m. Monday on Interstate 80 westbound near mile marker 202 in White Deer Township, Union County. Investigators said a tractor-trailer driven by Gueye Gornarou, of the Bronx, New York, was traveling west when the driver failed to notice vehicles stopped in a construction-related traffic backup. Police said the tractor-trailer first struck a Dodge Ram driven by Drew Miller of Lock Haven and another tractor-trailer operated by Justin Jackson of Malvern, Ohio. The tractor-trailer then swerved into the left lane, where it struck a Honda Pilot driven by Lynn George of Delmont before jackknifing and colliding with a Mercedes-Benz driven by Melissa Neville of Hawthorne, New Jersey, and a Toyota Highlander driven by Timmie Oneil of Nineveh, New York. The impact pushed the Honda Pilot off the roadway into the center median, where it rolled over multiple times. Police said the tractor-trailer's trailer then landed on top of the SUV. The Honda was carrying five members of the George family: Jayson George, 50; Lynn George, 44; a 17-year-old boy; a 14-year-old girl; and a 9-year-old boy. State police said Jayson George, the 9-year-old and the 17-year-old were flown to Geisinger Medical Center, while Lynn George and the 14-year-old were transported by ambulance. The investigation remains ongoing, and state police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
