41-year-old motorcyclist killed in three-vehicle crash in Dinwiddie
DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 41-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Dinwiddie County Monday night. On Monday, July 27, just before 8 p.m., troopers with Virginia State Police responded to the 6800 block of Boydton Plank Road, or Route 1, for a three-vehicle crash. The preliminary investigation indicated that a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe was trying to turn left when it hit a 2002 Kawasaki motorcycle heading northbound on Route 1. The crash caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway and collide with a 2019 Honda Accord exiting a parking lot. The driver of the motorcycle, 41-year-old Tyrone M. Cooper of North Dinwiddie, was pronounced dead. He was wearing a helmet during the crash, police said. Officials stated that the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe has been charged with failure to yield right of way while turning left and driving while license revoked or suspended. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles, and as of the time of reporting, drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to officials. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
