Semi truck driver killed in 2-vehicle crash in Federal Way, NB I-5 lanes blocked
A fatal crash involving a car and a semi-truck blocked lanes of northbound Interstate 5 in Federal Way on Tuesday morning, prompting warnings of a lengthy closure. Just before 10 a.m., the WSP announced the crash, stating that the two right lanes of NB I-5 near the Federal Way Rest Area are blocked, just south of SR 18 (milepost 141). The WSP said the semi-truck driver died in the crash, and that a lengthy closure is expected. WSDOT said emergency responders are on the scene, and there is no estimated time for when the lanes will reopen. There is currently a traffic backup of 3+ miles extending into Pierce County. People traveling through the area should seek alternate routes and expect delays.
